Jeff McBride, AIA, LEED AP BD+C
Principal Architect
Jeff has been practicing architecture for over 20 years. He received a Master’s in Architecture from Yale University, but his career path truly started as an undergraduate in Art History 101 at Williams College. Prior to starting Sidehill Design in 2021, Jeff worked for top architecture firms in Vermont, Boston, and Washington, DC, studied drawing in Rome, and taught undergraduates at the Boston Architectural College.
Jeff is a registered architect, a member of the American Institute of Architects, and a LEED accredited professional in green building and design. Jeff currently serves on the board of the Vermont chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
Jeff lives in Vermont with his wife, two children, and a giant dog named Hopscotch.

Jacob Gookin
Designer
Jacob is a Designer with a strong foundation in architecture and craftsmanship. He holds a master’s degree in architectural design from Norwich University, and is actively preparing for licensure exams. Jacob’s love of travel led him to a study abroad opportunity in Berlin, Germany, where he completed his master’s work focused on multi-generational housing, exploring innovative strategies for community living.
In addition to his formal training, Jacob’s approach to design has also been shaped by his experiences growing up in a family of craftsmen, which helped him build a strong foundation in fine woodworking and custom home building.
Jacob is passionate about personal fitness, healthy living, and continuous learning.
